Cyber hygiene lessons are being held in schools in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
In the schools of the Nizhny Novgorod region, lessons on cyber hygiene are being held as part of the "Digital Literacy" project. Classes on the topic "Harmful Advice on Digital Security," prepared by the Kaspersky Lab, are being conducted throughout the region until May 3 inclusive. As reported by the Minister of Education of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Mikhail Puchkov, the lessons have already become part of the educational process. They are regularly held in all 780 schools and 73 vocational education institutions in the region. At school No. 189 in Nizhny Novgorod, the thematic lesson was conducted by Vitaly Klimashov, the director of the Nizhny Novgorod Center for Coordination of Digital Economy Projects. Together with fifth-graders, he discussed the basic rules of digital security and typical user mistakes. Students were reminded of the inadmissibility of publishing personal data in open access, the risks of storing information in cloud services, the necessity of using complex and unique passwords, and two-factor authentication. Special attention was paid to caution when clicking on links from unknown senders and configuring app access to the camera and microphone. According to Vitaly Klimashov, developing cyber hygiene skills from an early age helps reduce the risks of fraud, including when criminals use children to obtain their parents' data. Methodological materials for teachers and a test are available on the official website of the "Digital Literacy" project. State Duma Deputy Yuri Stankevich noted that ensuring digital security is a direction of the people's program of "United Russia." According to him, open lessons contribute to increasing children's digital literacy and protecting them from fraudulent schemes. The "Digital Literacy" project is implemented in support of the national project "Data Economy and Digital Transformation of the State." It is intended for an audience aged 6+, recommended for viewing with parents or teachers, and verified by the Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution "Institute for the Study of Childhood, Family, and Education." Organizational and methodological support in the region is provided by the Nizhny Novgorod Institute for Education Development.
