The generator of ultra-short highly stable microwave pulses was developed at NNSU.

The development received an Eurasian patent for the invention. The device, developed by scientists from the Radiophysics Department of N.N. Lobachevsky Nizhny Novgorod State University, generates a series of successive ultra-wideband radio pulses with nanosecond and sub-nanosecond durations. Such signals can be used in a variety of fields: from telecommunications applications and high interference-resistant radar to solving specific scientific tasks in the study of dynamic systems, as well as testing electronics for resistance to electromagnetic interference. "The key advantage of the generator is the high repeatability of individual pulses in a periodic sequence. Higher stability means less measurement error, and therefore, more accurate results. With ultra-short pulses, non-contact diagnostics of the structure of substances and materials can be conducted, providing more detailed information about the composition of the substance, and even distinguishing small concentrations of impurities," said the inventor, Candidate of Technical Sciences Kirill Mineev. Furthermore, the development contributes to the advancement of Russian technologies for monitoring and forecasting the state of the environment. The device can be used to pump more powerful generators employed in long-range radar for monitoring space debris and asteroid threats in near-Earth space. The project was implemented within the framework of the "Priority-2030" program by employees of the research laboratory of sources of intense millimeter-wave radiation at the Radiophysics Department of N.N. Lobachevsky Nizhny Novgorod State University. The development received an Eurasian patent with the assistance of the Innovation Development Center of N.N. Lobachevsky Nizhny Novgorod State University. "For Nizhny Novgorod State University, obtaining an Eurasian patent is a special pride. This is not only recognition of the uniqueness and world-class level of our scientific school but also a crucial step in protecting intellectual rights for the development across the entire EAEU space. The Eurasian patent opens new opportunities for technology transfer and commercialization of the development. We view this fact as an important step towards implementing university technologies in the real sector of the economies of EAEU countries," emphasized the rector of Lobachevsky University Oleg Trofimov.

Earlier, it was reported that N.N. Lobachevsky University scientists would present reports at the All-Russian RNF lecture series.
