Almost 150 kg of drugs have been seized in the Nizhny Novgorod region since the beginning of the year.

      April 20, 2026 15:00 Incidents In January-March 2026, 525 crimes related to the illegal drug trade were registered in the Nizhny Novgorod region. This data is provided by the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the region. Compared to the same period last year, the figure decreased by 63.4%. The majority of the identified offenses fall into the category of serious and particularly serious crimes. Their number amounted to 457, which is 62.5% less than the previous year. Despite the overall reduction in the number of crimes, the volume of seized prohibited substances has significantly increased. During the reporting period, 149.7 kg of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, and their analogs were seized from illegal circulation. This is 6.9 times more than in 2025. Special attention was paid to combating organized forms of crime in the drug sphere. A total of 737 crimes committed by organized criminal groups were suppressed, which is twice the figure from the previous year. Of these, 187 are related to the illegal drug trade. This is 2.7% more than in the same period of 2025. 97 participants of organized groups have been brought to criminal responsibility. Compared to last year, their number increased by 19.8%.
