      On April 17, 2026, during the regular meeting of the permanent commission of the City Duma for the development of road management and transport, chaired by Stanislav Prokopovich, the first deputy director of the Department of Transport and Road Management, Vadim Nanaev, reported on the progress of road repairs as part of the implementation of the municipal program "Development of Road Management," the state program "Development of the Transport System of the Nizhny Novgorod Region," and the federal project "Regional and Local Road Network" of the national project "Infrastructure for Life," which is the main tool for achieving the national goal of "Comfortable and Safe Living Environment." According to the speaker, the total funding amounts to 930 million rubles. As of today, the repair sites are at various stages of technical readiness. By the end of May, repair work should be completed on the section from Kiselev Square to the viaduct to the airport along Youth Avenue in the Avtozavodsky District and on the road to the Church in the name of Saint Equal-to-the-Apostles Nina in the village of Levinka, passing through the territories of the Moscow and Sormovsky districts. At the first site, asphalt is being laid, slabs and manhole covers are being replaced, and road and sidewalk stones are being installed. Work on the other section began 10 days ago, with 8% of the volume for curb stone installation and power cable protection completed. The next site scheduled for completion in August is the section from Gorky Square to Alexeyevskaya Street in the Zvezdinka area of the Nizhny Novgorod district, where asphalt laying of the roadway, replacement of manhole covers, and marking should begin in early May. Four sites are planned for completion in September. On the section of Moscow Highway to the overpass at 435 km of the GZhD on Kuzbass Street in the Kanavinsky district, where curb stones have already been installed and sidewalks repaired, 56% of the road surface and 43% of the leveling layer have been completed, with work continuing in May. On the roundabout section to School No. 176 on Karl Marx Street from Betankur Street in the Kanavinsky district, where sidewalks have been fully repaired and seven bus shelters installed, work on curb stone installation will resume in early July. Regarding the sites in the Lenin district, it was noted that the technical readiness of the section of Novikov-Priboy Street from the Myzin Bridge to Igar Street is 18%—sidewalks have been repaired, and curb stone installation is nearly complete, with work scheduled to continue in mid-July. On Udmurt Street, from Igar Street to the overpass at 435 km, with sidewalks already repaired and curb stones installed, work will begin in early June. Two more sites with a completion deadline by the end of October are also set to begin in June. The scope of work on the Kazan Highway section from Lopatina Street to Bogdanovich Street in the Nizhny Novgorod district and Ryabtseva Street in the Moscow district includes the installation of roadway and sidewalk surfaces, marking, replacement of manhole covers, and installation of bus shelters. The capital repair of the overpass near the Myzin Bridge, which is 75% technically ready, is scheduled to be completed in December according to the contract. In response to a question from the commission chair about pothole repairs this season, Vadim Nanaev reported that relevant municipal contracts have been signed. The overall repair plan includes 170,000 square meters of roadway at a cost of about 320 million rubles. The list of sites was formed, including requests from city residents submitted through the "Lobachevsky" platform. According to the speaker, pothole repairs on the city’s main roads are planned to be completed by early May. "The work, which is sometimes challenging, is ongoing. There are two-year, ongoing contracts. Everything will be completed by the end of the year. Regarding pothole repairs in the city—we see how the top layer of the surface is being cut, and the equipment that fills the irregularities with cold asphalt. With the onset of favorable weather conditions, the pace and volume of work will increase significantly. We are also expecting road marking to be applied in the coming weeks. Together with colleagues, we asked the leadership of the relevant department to focus maximum attention on the quality of work, which should be synchronized with traffic flow whenever possible," commented Stanislav Prokopovich on the speaker's report.
