      The first meeting of the Interfaith Advisory Council under the city administration this year took place in Nizhny Novgorod. Participants discussed socially significant issues, especially relevant in the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia, declared by the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin. On its territory, representatives of about 120 nationalities live in peace and harmony. The head of the city, Yuri Shalabaev, approved a Comprehensive Plan for interethnic and interfaith relations at the beginning of the year, which includes more than 180 events, over 30 of which have already been held. We pay special attention to educational and social projects, security, and migration issues. Representatives of traditional faiths actively participate in all our events," said Arthur Shtoyan. Members of the Interfaith Council noted the uniqueness of Nizhny Novgorod, which unites the peoples and religions of Russia. "Our city is a unique, polyconfessional, multinational region of friendship. The Interfaith Advisory Council has a very good initiative called 'Friendly Nizhny,' within which meetings of student youth with representatives of traditional faiths for Nizhny Novgorod take place. It is not about how to divide among faiths, but about how to coexist, be friends, and implement joint projects in one territory. For students, such communication is a very rich experience, and I see it as our contribution to the unity of the people of Nizhny Novgorod," said Father Dmitry Martynov, head of the missionary department of the Nizhny Novgorod diocese. The chairman of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Gayaz-khazrat Zakirov, emphasized that Muslims and Christians in Nizhny Novgorod have a long history of good-neighborly relations: "A sincerely believing person, whether a Muslim, a Christian, or a representative of another faith, must love their homeland; this is sacred for everyone.
