Having recovered from a two-goal deficit during regulation time, the Torpedo team lost in the fifth match of the series against Metallurg - 3:4 (0:1, 1:2, 2:0, 0:1). In the very first seconds, Denis Kostin had to stop a close-range shot - the hosts were determined. However, the Torpedo players quickly leveled the game and began to increase their activity in the attacking zone. However, after being short-handed in the middle of the period (for a numerical composition violation), the Nizhny Novgorod team could not prevent the hosts from opening the scoring. The Torpedo team scored a response goal at the very beginning of the second period. A quick counterattack ended with a pass from the flank by Alexander Yaremchuk and a finish on the doorstep by Andrei Belevich. The hosts increased their activity and took the lead again. The Nizhny Novgorod team can be credited with a 70-second segment played three against five opponents - the Torpedo players held on. But with 10 seconds left before the second break (playing with equal numbers) - they failed to sort things out on their own doorstep and conceded the third goal. The birthday boy Yegor Vinogradov (who turned 23 on the day of the match) showed that Torpedo remained in the game, reducing the deficit to one goal in the 5th minute of the third period. The Nizhny Novgorod players acted actively, but they could not capitalize on their success immediately. By the middle of the period, the hosts established puck control, although it did not lead to significant threats at the Nizhny Novgorod goal. To turn the situation around, the Nizhny Novgorod team called a timeout with just over two minutes left in regulation time. Then, during the play, they replaced the goalie with an extra skater and equalized the score. Bogdan Konyushkov's shot was accompanied by such traffic at the Metallurg goal that it was difficult for the Steelworkers' goalie to see it, and reacting to the rebound from Maxim Letunov was impossible. Overtime lasted just over five minutes. The hosts capitalized on the power play, winning both the match and the series. Metallurg advanced further, while the Torpedo players received deserved applause for their character. - I consider the series to have been quite interesting for the fans. I want to congratulate Metallurg on their victory. It's fair - they were stronger in this series. For our team, the season is over. But I believe we can count it as a success. Because meeting Metallurg at this stage and showing quite quality hockey was not easy on one hand. On the other hand, we were able to create certain problems, certain challenges for Metallurg. And at the same time, I would like to say that our guys have grown 100% in this series: as hockey players, as individuals - because at a high level, under such pressure, you need to become more stable, stronger. In principle, we succeeded in many moments. We have such a result, and here it is: everything in sports is fair - Metallurg goes further. Alexey Isakov Head Coach of Torpedo - As usual, it's hard to come out for the next game after painful losses, it's psychologically difficult. Therefore, the guys did well. Today we played better in terms of movement, the desire was good, it was clear: the guys were "charged." It's a pity we let it slip at the end. But it's even better that we went through this. Because we lost two overtimes, did not break - we went confidently into the third. So we move on. About the series: a good opponent, it's hard to play in Nizhny, they have good fans, the acoustics are good for the hosts. I think the series was enjoyable. Thanks to Torpedo for this series, they made us spend a lot of nerves. Andrey Razin Head Coach of Metallurg
