On April 17, 2026, 19:13 Society Pothole repairs in Nizhny Novgorod are planned to be completed by the beginning of May. This became known at a meeting of the Duma commission on the development of road infrastructure and transport on April 17. The report was presented by Vadim Nanaev, the first deputy director of the Department of Transport and Road Infrastructure. The work is being carried out as part of the municipal program "Development of Road Infrastructure," the regional program for the development of the transport system, and the federal project "Regional and Local Road Network" of the national project "Infrastructure for Life." The total funding amounts to 930 million rubles, with the projects at different stages of readiness. By the end of May, repairs are planned to be completed on Youth Avenue in the Avtozavodsky District — from Kiselev Square to the viaduct to the airport, as well as on the road to the Church of St. Nina the Equal-to-the-Apostles in the village of Levinka. On the first section, asphalting, replacement of slabs and manholes, and installation of curbs are ongoing. On the second, work began about ten days ago: approximately 8% of the planned volume has been completed. In August, a section from Gorky Square to Alexeyevskaya Street in the area of Zvezdinka Street is expected to be completed. In early May, they will begin asphalting and replacing manholes with subsequent marking. Four more projects are planned to be completed in September. In particular, on Kuzbass Street in Kanavino, curbs have already been installed and sidewalks repaired, with more than half of the work on the surface completed. On Karl Marx Street, the repair of sidewalks has been completed, and bus shelters have been installed, with further work continuing from July. In the Lenin District on Novikova-Priboya Street, readiness is at 18%, and work on Udmurt Street will resume in June. By June, contractors are also expected to begin repairs on sections of Kazan Highway and Ryabtsev Street. Comprehensive work is planned there — from resurfacing to installing bus shelters and marking. The major repair of the overpass near the Myzin Bridge, which is estimated to be 75% complete, is planned to be finished in December (although it was previously planned to be completed in August - Ed. note). Separately, the deputies discussed pothole repairs. According to Vadim Nanaev, municipal contracts have been signed for the renewal of 170,000 square meters of road surface for about 320 million rubles. The list of sections has been formed, including based on requests from residents through the "Lobachevsky" platform. He clarified that pothole repairs on the city's main thoroughfares are planned to be completed by the beginning of May. Stanislav Prokopovich, the chairman of the relevant commission of the Nizhny Novgorod Duma, noted that work is already underway, including under ongoing contracts, and expressed confidence that all planned activities will be completed by the end of the year. He emphasized that currently, the upper layer of the surface is being cut and unevenness is being eliminated with cold asphalt, and with improved weather conditions, the pace of work will significantly increase. "Also, in the coming weeks, we will see the application of road markings," he added, emphasizing the need for special attention to the quality of work and its synchronization with traffic flow. Following the discussion, the deputies took the information presented into account. It was previously reported that the new Bor Bridge will be partially closed due to repairs in June.
