Alexey Khamrov: "It is important for the families of the reservists of 'BARS-NN' to live in peace."
On April 16, 2026, at 13:57, the "Bars-NN" reservists' families shared additional support measures they receive in accordance with the decree of the governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Gleb Nikitin. For example, since January of this year, the children of reservists have been receiving free meals at schools.
Nizhny Novgorod resident Irina shared that her husband signed a contract to join "BARS-NN" in October of last year. Their eldest son is currently serving in the Special Military Operation as a UAV operator, while their younger son is in the ninth grade. Now the family does not have to pay for hot lunches for their school-aged child.
"My husband has always been a patriot. He worked for 25 years in the Ministry of Internal Affairs. So it was not a surprise for me when he joined 'BARS-NN'. I believe that the benefits for reservists' families are a very good support. When our class teacher told us about this in January, we were pleasantly surprised," said the reservist's wife.
The family did not encounter any difficulties in processing the documents to receive benefits. Everything was organized within a few days after submitting the documents.
"There are three children from reservists' families studying at our school, two of whom are in high school. For parents, this is significant help because food is quite expensive now—about three thousand rubles a month," noted school principal Maria Kiseleva.
In addition, reservists' families are exempt from paying for preschool institutions.
"The cost of one day for a child in kindergarten is 159 rubles. If the child attends for a full day, it amounts to over three thousand rubles a month. A substantial amount. Therefore, the benefits are a great help for parents," emphasized kindergarten head Zoya Romashina.
The benefit for the family of the Nizhny Novgorod reservist, whose son attends kindergarten, was processed within one day. To receive benefits, a package of documents needed to be collected, including an application, consent for the processing of personal data, a document confirming the parent's identity, the child's birth certificate, and a copy of the military contract.
"It is very important that our reservists have a strong support system so that their families can live in peace. These support measures are very significant for them. People are carrying out combat missions and are away from home, so they need to be confident that their loved ones will be taken care of. There is already 'feedback.' Everyone who received help is very grateful," emphasized the commander of the mobilization reserve "BARS-NN," Alexey Kramov.
Let us remind you that service in the "BARS-NN" reserve does not involve deployment to the special military operation zone and takes place only in the Nizhny Novgorod region. Recruitment into the reserve is conducted on a voluntary basis through military enlistment offices of municipal formations by signing a contract with the Ministry of Defense of Russia through the commander of the military unit. A feature of the contract is the possibility of combining primary civilian work with military training and drills.
Throughout the contract period, reservists are provided with monetary support, modern equipment, and uniforms. During military drills, their jobs and salaries are preserved, and they are provided with life and health insurance, medical assistance, and free meals.
Additionally, by the decree of Governor Gleb Nikitin, additional support measures have been established for Nizhny Novgorod residents in the mobilization reserve "BARS-NN" and their family members. For children—free kindergarten, school meals, sports sections and extended day groups, subsidized vouchers to camps and sanatoriums in the Nizhny Novgorod region. There is a priority right for transferring a child to a school near their home. The entire family of the reservist is guaranteed free medical assistance out of turn under the State Guarantees Program for providing medical assistance to the population of the Nizhny Novgorod region for the current year.
For consultation and to arrange the specified support measures, one can contact the social protection department, as well as educational and healthcare institutions at their place of residence, depending on the type of support needed.
