The "United Russia" party team inspected the major renovation of the NNGASU dormitory.
The party "United Russia" inspection team visited dormitory No. 2 of the Nizhny Novgorod State Architectural and Construction University (NNGASU), located at Koreyskiy Lane, 6. The reason for the visit was the completion of a comprehensive major renovation of the building, which finished in December 2025. The inspection participants evaluated the quality of the work, the equipment of the rooms and public spaces, and also spoke with representatives of the university.
The total area of the dormitory is nearly 4,000 square meters. The five-story brick building was constructed in 1966. The project documentation for the renovation was prepared by the university in 2024. The university's application to the Ministry of Education and Science was fully satisfied. The construction and installation work took 8.5 months — from April to December 2025.
"The Nizhny Novgorod regional branch of the 'United Russia' party, together with the 'Young Guard', systematically visits student dormitories as part of the party inspection. We check how comfortable, safe, and convenient it is for young people to live here. Inspecting dormitories is one of the key areas of our People's Program within the education module.
Today's visit impressed me greatly. The renovation was done very well, with care and modernity. I am sure that the students who move in here at the end of August will be truly delighted. Of course, there are still some aspects that need attention — for example, the furniture, which is still being installed. But overall, the work has been done excellently. We will come back here in September and definitely ask the students if they liked it," noted Artem Rybakov, the first deputy head of the Nizhny Novgorod regional executive committee of the 'United Russia' party.
During the major renovation, the building's facade, roof, and engineering infrastructure were completely updated. In all rooms, the walls were leveled, surfaces were re-plastered, wallpaper was applied, new linoleum was laid, ceilings were installed, and doors were replaced. Special attention was paid to furnishing: each student will be provided with a bed, table, chair, and wardrobe. Additionally, each room has a dining area with a refrigerator, and cooking is organized in spacious shared kitchens located on each floor.
The total capacity of the dormitory after renovation increased by 25 places, totaling 310 beds. The room stock includes 92 triple and 17 double rooms. The dormitory has updated showers with changing rooms — 4 rooms equipped with 20 showerheads. Each floor has two restrooms, a washroom, and a shared kitchen, with a restroom designed for people with limited mobility. The first floor houses the administration, utility block, isolation room, laundry, gym, security room with a rest and dining area, and a study room that will soon be equipped with computers with modern specialized software for future architects and construction engineers (BIM modeling, CAD).
"I firmly believe that the comfortable living conditions created in the dormitory today will allow our students to derive genuine pleasure not only from engaging with science, immersing themselves in new knowledge, and moving towards their chosen profession. This is undoubtedly important. But it is equally important that the students can communicate with each other in a comfortable, cozy, modern environment, engage in self-study, and spend their leisure time usefully and enjoyably, actively participating in sports. When the environment around encourages development, when there is space for study, rest, and friendly communication, learning becomes easier, and results improve. Therefore, I can confidently say that the achievements of our students with such infrastructure will only make us happy," emphasized Lyubov Shirokova, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
For its part, a representative of NNGASU emphasized that the university is grateful for the support of the project.
"Funding for the renovation of the dormitory was allocated as part of the national project 'Youth and Children'. The Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia provided a subsidy for the major renovation and equipping. The university also contributed its own funds as part of the implementation of the Development Program 'Priority 2030'. A large-scale effort has been undertaken. Our application was supported by the Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Gleb Nikitin, and the regional branch of the 'United Russia' party — for which we thank them! We hope that the implementation of the program initiated by President Vladimir Putin will allow us to renovate all four of our dormitories by 2030," added Andrey Belov, Vice-Rector for Property Management of NNGASU.
Following the inspection, a report was compiled, and current work tasks were recorded: the planned completion of furniture assembly and the contractor's resolution of minor cosmetic defects on the facade that arose after the winter period as part of warranty obligations. The work has been placed under the control of the party's active members. The next visit is scheduled for September 2026 — after the students have moved in, to receive direct feedback from the residents.
It is worth noting that the People's Program of 'United Russia' includes two key provisions in the field of higher education: to implement a program for the major renovation and construction of university dormitories, and to create a network of modern world-class campuses. These tasks are being addressed under the national project 'Youth and Children' and with the support of the President of the Russian Federation. The party has succeeded in including funding for these provisions in the federal budget.
At the initiative of 'United Russia', the Ministry of Education and Science developed a standard for the major renovation of dormitories, which separately outlines requirements for infrastructure for students with disabilities and for student families.
Note: Today, there are about 3,300 student dormitories across the country, housing nearly one million people. The program for renovating student dormitories is one of the components of the current People's Program of 'United Russia'. The party provides for its funding in the budget. This has allowed for the major renovation of 629 dormitories, where nearly 200,000 students live, from 2022 to 2025. In 2026, it is planned to renovate another 56 dormitories.
'United Russia', together with the 'Young Guard', conducts annual monitoring of major renovation activities in university dormitories across all regions. Over four years, the monitoring covered 437 universities and 759 dormitories, with more than 2,500 events conducted. A total of 354 student headquarters were created, involving more than 21,000 students.
