The death of a 61-year-old man in a fire in Zavolzhye has led to an investigation by the Investigative Committee.

      On April 14, 2026, at 19:42, Incidents In Zavolzhye, an investigation is underway regarding the death of a man as a result of a fire. The tragedy occurred on April 14 in one of the houses on Mira Avenue, reports the press service of the regional Investigative Committee.

      After extinguishing the fire, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in the Nizhny Novgorod region discovered the body of a 61-year-old man in the premises.

      A investigator from the Gorodets interdistrict investigative department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod region arrived at the scene. A procedural check has been organized.

      Upon examination of the body, no signs of violent death were found. To establish the exact cause of the fire, a fire-technical examination has been appointed. The preliminary version being considered is careless handling of fire.

      Currently, investigators continue to clarify all the circumstances of the incident.

      It was previously reported that the body of a pensioner was found after a fire caused by a cigarette in a Nizhny Novgorod high-rise building.
