On April 15, 2026, at 09:11, Society Sputnik recorded the progress of the construction of the duplicate of Gagarin Avenue in Nizhny Novgorod. The footage was published by the regional Ministry of Transport.
Satellite images show how the work, which started in 2024, has progressed. Currently, the overall technical readiness of the facility is approaching 50%.
The main work is being carried out as part of the second and third phases of the project. A total of 7.4 kilometers of asphalt concrete pavement has already been laid, a bridge has been built as part of the interchange with the R-158 highway, and a section of the federal highway measuring 1.2 kilometers has been opened for traffic. The reconstruction of engineering communications has been completed by almost half.
Let us remind you that the project is being implemented under a concession agreement dated December 2, 2023. The length of the new highway will exceed 12.3 km. The construction period is estimated at 4.5 years. The total investment volume is estimated at 64.4 billion rubles, and the concession period is 30 years and 9 months.
The concessionaire hopes to complete the second and third phases ahead of schedule. Traffic on the third phase is planned to be opened by September 30, 2026, and on the second phase by June 30, 2027. The implementation of the fourth phase with a bridge over the Oka River will begin after attracting federal co-financing.
Earlier, it was reported that the state expert examination rejected the project for the reconstruction of gas trunk transport facilities of PJSC "Gazprom," which was planned as part of the construction of the duplicate of Gagarin Avenue.
