A Nizhny Novgorod resident was sentenced to 1.5 years of forced labor for selling a firecracker to a teenager.

      On April 15, 2026, at 10:16, Incidents: A Nizhny Novgorod man was convicted for selling a firecracker to a minor. The Kanavinsky District Court found the man guilty of providing services that do not meet safety requirements, resulting in serious harm to a person's health due to negligence, as reported by the press service of the regional court.

      It is worth noting that the man sold pyrotechnics to a 13-year-old teenager in December 2024. Subsequently, the minor ignited the device in the territory of a shopping and entertainment center. A few seconds later, it exploded in his hand. As a result, all fingers on the teenager's left hand were injured. Medical professionals managed to completely preserve the thumb and index finger, while the other three were partially restored.

      The court sentenced the man to 1 year and 6 months of compulsory labor with 10% of his earnings withheld for the benefit of the state. The verdict has not yet entered into legal force.

      Earlier, it was reported that over 550,000 rubles were to be collected from the individual entrepreneur who sold the firecracker for the benefit of the family of the teenager who was injured in the explosion of the pyrotechnic device.
