April 14, 2026 12:45 Incidents An attempt to export women to Russia for further exploitation was thwarted at Tashkent airport. This was reported by Uzbek media citing the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the republic. In the Fergana region, law enforcement officers, together with the State Security Service, identified and stopped the activities of a criminal group that had established a channel for sending women to Russia. According to the investigation, three individuals are suspects in the human trafficking case: a resident of Nizhny Novgorod - a native of the Buvaydin district of Uzbekistan, as well as two of her accomplices from the Fergana and Kushtepin districts. The criminals were searching for women, promising them high-paying jobs abroad. The victims of the criminal scheme were two women born in 1982 and 2004. The suspects, residing in Uzbekistan, were detained while sending their next two victims at Tashkent International Airport. A criminal case has been initiated under Article 135 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan "Human Trafficking." Investigative actions are underway to establish all the circumstances of the incident.
