Ivan Kalmykov became the rector of KUPNO.

      April 13, 2026 13:36 Politics Ivan Kalmykov has been appointed rector of the Corporate University of the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region (KUPNO). Until recently, he held the position of vice-rector, the regional government reported. Kalmykov graduated from the Faculty of History of N.N. Lobachevsky Nizhny Novgorod State University and holds a PhD in historical sciences. He was a finalist in the "Leaders of Russia" management competition in the "Science" track and is also the author of books and publications on Nizhny Novgorod local history. Before moving to KUPNO, Ivan Kalmykov headed the "Young Guard" of "United Russia," worked in the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, and taught at universities in the region. He also served as Deputy Minister of Human Resources and Youth Policy of the Nizhny Novgorod Region. It is worth noting that KUPNO was established in 2020 as a regional center for the transformation of public service. Key areas of its work include training public servants of a new format, increasing the efficiency of processes in regional government bodies, implementing modern educational practices and lean technology tools, developing management competencies, forming a new corporate culture, and identifying promising employees for further professional growth within the government system.
