A dog and a cat were rescued last weekend in Nizhny Novgorod.

      On April 13, 2026, at 14:30 Society Over the past weekend in Nizhny Novgorod, help was needed for two domestic animals. The mayor of the city, Yuri Shalabaev, reported the incident on his social media.

      The first call came from the Sormovsky district. Passersby noticed a black dog that had fallen into a pit on private property. According to the city's head, the animal calmly accepted help and did not resist. Emergency rescue team members lifted the dog up a ladder to the surface. Upon examination, no serious injuries were found.

      The second story occurred in the Prioksky district. There, a white domestic cat named Sofit fell onto a fence and got stuck on metal bars. The owners immediately sought help, and a team of rescuers quickly arrived at the scene.

      The cat was carefully removed from the fence, and then, using special equipment, the metal elements were gently extracted. Throughout this time, the pet's owners were nearby. After the rescue, Sofit was handed over to veterinarians.

      Earlier, Nizhny Novgorod residents were informed about where they could vaccinate their pets against rabies for free.
