The Ministry of Transport responded to the story about the ferry crossing in Pavlov.
On April 8, 2026, at 10:04, the Ministry of Transport of the Nizhny Novgorod region reacted to the situation that arose at the ferry crossing Pavlovo — Tumbotino. The response was published on the agency's social media.
The incident occurred on the evening of April 6. People arrived at the pier to return home, but the crew reported that the ferry service had finished for the day.
In a video published by eyewitnesses, it can be heard that passengers were informed of the last departure at 20:00. However, according to residents, the vessel was scheduled to leave at 21:00. They were unable to persuade the crew to take the people across.
The ministry explained that since April 4, due to unpredictable changes in the flood situation and a sharp rise in water levels, the ferry route across the Oka River between Pavlovo and Tumbotino had been adjusted.
"Due to the change in the ferry route, the interval between departures increased to two hours. As a result, the last ferry from Pavlovo was completed at 20:00 instead of the scheduled 21:00," the agency reported.
According to the contractor, it was not possible to organize an additional trip due to unfavorable conditions for navigation.
At the same time, the Ministry of Transport noted that the carrier did not fully take into account the needs of passengers and did not provide comfortable travel conditions.
"The contracting organization has already been briefed on the necessity of complying with the terms of the state contract, including adherence to the schedule," the agency stated, adding that a claims process would also be organized due to the insufficient attention of the staff to passengers and drivers.
The ferry schedule is currently being adjusted. After coordination with the Pavlovo administration, it will be published on the official website of the municipality.
Recall that at the end of March, the floating bridge on the road "Pavlovo — Tumbotino — Gorokhovets" was closed. The ferry service began to be dismantled due to the rising water level in the Oka. It was also reported that due to planned preventive works, the pontoon bridge would not be operational until the end of June.
