On April 7, 2026, at 07:00 Society New methods for combating oncological diseases have been included in the mandatory health insurance program. The corresponding decree was signed by the head of the cabinet, Mikhail Mishustin, the press service of the Russian government reported.

This concerns high-tech medical assistance using personalized approaches. In particular, patients will now be able to receive treatment free of charge using Russian oncological vaccines created based on the molecular-genetic characteristics of the specific patient's tumor. They "train" the immune system to recognize and destroy cancer cells.

The list also includes therapy for metastatic colorectal cancer with the personalized peptide vaccine "Oncopept" and CAR-T cell immunotherapy. The latter involves taking the patient's own T-cells, genetically modifying them in the laboratory, and subsequently returning them to the body to fight the tumor. This method is primarily used for blood diseases, including refractory leukemias and lymphomas.

As Mikhail Mishustin noted, "the inclusion of new approaches in the mandatory health insurance system will increase the effectiveness of assistance to people with severe diseases." Treatment will be available in federal medical organizations as part of the state guarantees program for 2026-2028.

In addition, the decree provides for other changes. Pregnant women living in remote settlements without regular transport links will be able to count on assistance to and from medical organizations.

Regions will also be given the opportunity to set maximum deadlines for making appointments with doctors and for diagnostic studies through the government services portal. These parameters will be enshrined in the territorial OMC programs.

Earlier, the editorial office launched an online conference with the chief freelance oncologist of the regional health ministry, Sergey Gamayunov. Questions are accepted until April 10 via the link.
