      On April 7, 2026, at 09:47, Incidents In Nizhny Novgorod, police officers seized a large batch of drugs from a resident of St. Petersburg. More than two kilograms of mephedrone were found in his possession, reported the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod region. The operation was carried out by officers from the drug control department of police department No. 8 of the city police. As a result of operational information, a previously convicted 38-year-old resident of St. Petersburg was detained. During the inspection of his passenger car, a package with 12 bundles containing an unknown substance was found in the trunk. One of the bundles was sent for examination. Forensic experts established that it contained mephedrone weighing 215.2 g. The total weight of the seized batch exceeded 2 kg. According to the police, the man arrived in the Volga capital to sell drugs through the so-called wholesale stash. He admitted this after his detention. A criminal case has been initiated under part 3 of article 30, part 5 of article 228.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation - "attempt to illegally manufacture, sell or send narcotic substances in especially large quantities." During the preliminary investigation, the suspect has been taken into custody. If his guilt is confirmed, he could face a sentence of up to 15 years in prison.
