      April 7, 2026 09:28 Science Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Ivan Postnov of Nizhny Novgorod State Agrarian University has passed away at the age of 89, the university reported.

      Ivan Evstafievich was an honorary worker of higher professional education in the Russian Federation, a scientist and educator who dedicated nearly 40 years to working at the agrarian technology university.

      He was born in the village of Krutets in the Buturlin district of Nizhny Novgorod region. In 1962, he graduated from Gorky State University named after N.I. Lobachevsky. From 1962 to 1987, he worked at the Research Institute of Chemistry at the university.

      In 1987, he began working at the Nizhny Novgorod State Agricultural Academy, which is now called NGAU. From 1987 to 2009, he headed the Department of "Plant Protection," and then led the Department of "Water Biological Resources and Aquaculture."

      Ivan Evstafievich is the author of 14 inventions confirmed by copyright certificates. Among them are developments in the field of biological methods for detecting toxic metal cations, cyanides, pesticides, and other physiologically active substances. These solutions were used in the biotesting of industrial wastewater at the All-Russian Research Institute of Water Supply and Sanitation, as well as in various scientific and production organizations in the country to assess the toxicity of animal feed.

      He published more than 150 scientific works, including three monographs.

      The university noted that in the memory of colleagues and students, Ivan Evstafievich will remain a great professional and wise mentor.

      The farewell ceremony for Ivan Postnov will take place at 11:00 on April 7 at the Bugrovsky Cemetery in Hall No. 2.
