On March 26, 2026, at 17:40, Incidents In Nizhny Novgorod, the investigation into the criminal case against the former vice-rector for financial and economic work, Sergey Vozhikov, as well as the head of the contract service of PIMU, Vyacheslav Matveichev, and the director of a medical device sales company, has been completed. All three are accused of fraud, with the head of the commercial organization also charged with bribery, as reported by the regional Investigative Committee's press service. According to the investigation, in 2021, university representatives, along with the company director, decided to embezzle budget funds allocated under a federal program for the purchase of expensive medical equipment. To do this, they prepared documents with inflated costs for equipment from affiliated organizations, which helped secure victory in the auction. Subsequently, a contract was concluded between PIMU and the commercial structure for the supply of bicycle ergometers worth over 600,000 rubles. The funds in question, according to the investigation, were distributed among the accused. Furthermore, the investigation believes that the company director transferred 900,000 rubles to the head of the rehabilitation department for assistance in securing contracts for the supply of equipment, guaranteed victories in auctions, and subsequent unhindered acceptance of the products. The court has chosen a measure of restraint in the form of detention for all three defendants. Currently, the criminal case with an approved indictment has been sent to court for substantive consideration. The case against the alleged bribe recipient is also being considered by the court.
