The Nizhny Novgorod Ministry of Ecology will strengthen its cooperation with the Upper Volga Water Management Authority.

March 25, 2026 10:46 Society The Nizhny Novgorod Ministry of Ecology plans to strengthen cooperation with the Upper Volga Basin Water Management (BWM) of the Federal Agency for Water Resources. This concerns the prompt resolution of water use issues and enhancing control over the state of water resources. Since March 23, Alexander Gridnev has been appointed as the head of the Upper Volga BWM, previously holding the position of Deputy Minister of Ecology for the region. As noted by the Deputy Governor of Nizhny Novgorod Region, Sergey Morozov, the new appointment creates additional opportunities for coordination between the federal agency and the regional ministry, where Gridnev oversaw key environmental protection areas. "The synchronization of actions between the two structures will ensure continuity in addressing strategic tasks, including the implementation of federal projects for the rehabilitation of the Volga, the preservation of unique water bodies, and the development of the region's water management complex, including within the framework of the national project 'Ecological Well-Being'," Morozov noted. The national project "Ecological Well-Being" has been implemented in Russia since 2025 by order of President Vladimir Putin. It aims to address tasks that were previously part of the national project "Ecology." The NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has a Telegram channel.
