The closing ceremony of the 2nd stage of the winter "Atomiyad" took place in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      On March 24, the closing ceremony of the second stage of the XIII Winter "Atomiad" took place in the Gorodets district of the Nizhny Novgorod region, reports IA "Vremya N".

      "Atomiad" is considered one of the main annual sporting events in the Russian nuclear industry. The first stage of the competitions was previously held in Polar Zorya, Murmansk region.

      The second stage took place from March 21 to 23 at the "Sea of Sports" base in Bolshoy Sukhodol. About 700 representatives from 57 "Rosatom" enterprises and 130 students from 11 specialized universities competed for awards. Among the participants were students from VGUES, IGESU, KGEU, NGTU named after Alekseev, NIU MEI, NIYAU MIFI, RHTU named after Mendeleev, SPbPU Peter the Great, TPU, and UrFU.

      The program of the II stage included competitions in basketball, darts, and chess. In addition, participants performed in separate competitions in fidgetal dances Just Dance.

      "Nizhny Novgorod region traditionally becomes the center for hosting large-scale all-Russian events, and 'Atomiad' is no exception. The existing sports infrastructure in our region allows for competitions of the highest level. We are happy to welcome guests to Nizhny Novgorod," noted the Deputy Minister of Sports of the region, Ekaterina Parilova.

      During the closing ceremony, the winners and prize-winners were announced. In the basketball tournament, the first place was taken by the electric power division of "Rosatom".

      "Our team spirit is at the highest level, which is why we won gold medals," said Nikolai Shustov, a player on the winning team.

      In the darts competitions, gold medals were won by "YAO-K-Ural", while in chess, the strongest was "Fuel Center".

      Participants also highly appreciated the organization of the tournament and the atmosphere of the sports celebration.

      "The emotions are incredible. The team spirit is felt like never before. The event is very bright and colorful," shared darts player Anna Tomkevich.

      During the award ceremony, those who have contributed to the development of physical culture and sports in the industry over many years were specially recognized.

      The badge of distinction "For Contribution to the Development of Physical Culture and Sports" was awarded to Vitaly Boldyrev from the "Rosenergoatom" concern, Dmitry Demin from VNIIA, Sergey Mozgovoy from the ANO "Atom-sport", and Denis Sorokin from EHZ.
