The sentence for the Nizhny Novgorod man who attacked the nurse has been tightened.

      March 20, 2026 19:37 Incidents The Nizhny Novgorod Regional Court reviewed the sentence of a resident of the Prioksky District who assaulted a paramedic and sent him to a penal colony. This was reported by the regional prosecutor's office. Earlier, on November 5, 2025, the Prioksky District Court found the man guilty of intentionally causing moderate harm to the health of a person performing official duties. Recall that in April 2025, the man, while intoxicated at home, struck a paramedic in the head. The doctors arrived on an emergency call to assist his wife. As a result of the attack, the woman sustained injuries that led to a prolonged health disorder. The examination classified them as moderate harm. The court examined the testimonies of the victim herself and her colleague who was at the scene, the conclusion of the forensic medical examination, as well as the testimonies of police officers. They recorded the man's aggressive behavior and the serious condition of the medical worker immediately after the incident. The court deemed this evidence sufficient to conclude guilt. Initially, the man was sentenced to two years of conditional imprisonment. In addition, the court granted a civil claim for the recovery of 300,000 rubles as compensation for material and moral damages. The prosecutor's office considered this punishment too lenient and appealed the verdict. Upon reviewing the appeal, the regional court changed the decision of the first instance. The application of Article 73 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation was excluded from the verdict, and now the convicted person must serve two years of imprisonment in a penal colony.
