According to information provided by the Volga Transport Prosecutor's Office, the incident occurred in December 2024, when the defendant, while outside Russia, purchased parts of a plant with a narcotic component, intending to use them for personal consumption. This was reported by the "New Telegraph Agency of the Volga". The man illegally transported these parts of the plant, hiding them in his carry-on luggage, into the territory of the Russian Federation on a flight from Baku to Nizhny Novgorod. Upon arrival at Strigino Airport, he passed through the "green corridor". However, during a subsequent customs inspection, the specified parts of the plant were discovered and seized among his personal belongings.
As a result of the court proceedings, the man was sentenced to one year of conditional imprisonment, with a probation period of two years.
Recall that on December 9, 2025, it became known that a court in Nizhny Novgorod held a resident of the Perm region accountable for previously exporting timber abroad. He illegally sent a batch of coniferous timber worth about 6.2 million rubles, which relates to strategically important resources. For this, he was sentenced to one year of forced labor and a fine of 200,000 rubles.
