Torpedo lost to Severstal on the road, 6–7.

      Any match between Severstal and Torpedo always promises to be intense and intriguing. This season the teams already met in early October, when Severstal secured a convincing 5-3 victory. For Torpedo, the game was their first away match of the new year after a successful home game against Barys.

      The first period began with Severstal attacking actively. Already in the third minute of the match the home team opened the scoring, and soon on the power play they doubled their lead. With three and a half minutes left in the first period, Severstal was already leading 3-0.

      However, Torpedo was not going to give up. In the very next attack after the face-off, Vasily Atanasov reduced the deficit to one goal. After the break, at the 27th minute Atanasov scored again, completing a brace. It seemed the goal would be the turning point of the game, but Severstal quickly responded with three goals scored within a few minutes.

      In the third period Torpedo replaced goalkeeper Denis Kostin with Ivan Kulbakov, but it did not help change the course of the game. Anton Sizov scored from long range, changing the score to 3-6, but after that Severstal's lead grew again.

      In the closing stages Torpedo seemed to rally and scored three goals in five minutes: Maksim Letunov, Vlad Firstov and Bogdan Konyushkov got on the scoresheet. But alas, the white-and-blues didn't have enough time to save the game. The final score was 7-6 in favor of Severstal.

      As part of the road trip, Torpedo will play Moscow Dynamo on January 12, and on January 14 will host Lokomotiv at their home arena.
