Ten settlements in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast have been included in the "Golden Ring".

January 10, 2026, 17:48 Culture and Leisure. Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Chernyshenko announced an expansion of the "Golden Ring" route. This decision is aimed at increasing the tourist appeal of the regions.

Now the route will include not only the traditional nine cities, but also 49 unique sites, including ancient capitals, merchant towns and protected natural parks.

The deputy prime minister emphasized that in 2027 the "Golden Ring" will celebrate its 60th anniversary, and in the run-up to this date the route is receiving additional development.

From the Nizhny Novgorod region, the following towns and villages will be included in the updated "Golden Ring": Arzamas, Bogorodsk, Vyksa, Gorodets, Diveyevo, Nizhny Novgorod, Pavlovo, Purekh, Chkalovsk and Bolshoye Boldino.

Dmitry Vakhrukov, Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, noted that the expansion of the "Golden Ring" creates new opportunities for tourists. Now the route represents a whole travel ecosystem where everyone can choose the pace, format and storyline of their trip. For example, one can go on a pilgrimage tour to Diveyevo or spend a gastronomic weekend in Vyatskoye.

The project will also serve as an incentive for the development of dozens of small towns, the creation of new jobs and the restoration of monuments. This will make the included territories more attractive as places to live and for tourism.
