Nizhny Novgorod residents will be able to receive treatment for more than 20 types of diseases under mandatory medical insurance in 2026.

      In 2026 in Russia, free medical care will be provided for more than 20 types of diseases and conditions, according to a government decree.

      According to TASS, the list of specific diseases covered by mandatory medical insurance (OMS) remained unchanged compared with the previous year. It includes infectious and parasitic diseases, oncology, diseases of the endocrine, nervous, cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive and genitourinary systems, skin diseases, musculoskeletal pathologies, as well as diseases of the eyes and ears.

      In addition, treatment is provided for injuries, poisonings, eating disorders, metabolic disorders, mental disorders, congenital anomalies, chromosomal abnormalities, as well as conditions related to pregnancy, childbirth and the perinatal period.

      Moreover, in 2026 an expansion of the range of preventive measures is planned. Pregnant women will be able to undergo non-invasive prenatal testing that includes analysis of fetal cell-free DNA in the mother's blood. For citizens aged 18 to 40, free determination of lipoprotein levels will be introduced, which will make it possible to identify cardiovascular disease risks at an early stage.

      The reproductive health screening program has also been strengthened, now covering 35% of women and men aged 18 to 49. As part of this program, HPV testing and liquid-based cytology for women will be carried out, which will help in the timely detection and prevention of oncological diseases.

      Fifteen new high-tech treatment methods have been included in the OMS program, such as photodynamic therapy for oncological diseases, ophthalmic surgeries, replacement of a cardioverter-defibrillator and kidney transplantation.

      In 2026, nearly 23,000 rubles per person will be allocated under mandatory medical insurance, and 5,400 rubles from budgetary funds.
