Flights to Sheremetyevo are being diverted to Nizhny Novgorod due to bad weather.
January 10, 2026 08:47 Society Due to adverse weather conditions in Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod's Chkalov Airport is temporarily accepting flights bound for Sheremetyevo.
According to the airport's press service, all arrival and departure operations at Sheremetyevo have been temporarily suspended due to heavy snowfall and low visibility. This decision is aimed at ensuring the safety of passengers and crew.
Planes that were scheduled to land at Sheremetyevo were diverted to other airports, including Nizhny Novgorod. In particular, Chkalov Airport received four international flights: from Istanbul, Yerevan and two flights from Hurghada.
Passengers on these flights are undergoing border control and are waiting to depart in the terminals. Airline staff are working with them and providing all necessary information.
For passengers' convenience, drinking water points have been set up at the airport, coolers installed and soft seating provided (poufs and mattresses).
At the moment, flights SU-1869 (Yerevan) and SU-421 (Hurghada) are delayed until 17:10 and 19:00, respectively.
It is important to note that the Nizhny Novgorod airport schedule remains unchanged, and no changes are currently planned. However, before traveling to the airport it is recommended to check the flight status via online services to avoid possible delays.
