In the Nizhny Novgorod Region, large-scale fire safety inspections were carried out in temples and churches where festive services are planned ahead of Christmas. According to the regional EMERCOM office, state fire supervision inspectors examined all religious sites involved in the celebrations. Special attention was paid to the condition of fire protection systems and evacuation routes.
In addition, EMERCOM staff conducted briefings with parish priests, churchwardens and church staff. They were reminded of safety rules and actions to take in case of fire.
Due to New Year and Christmas events, the entire staff of the regional EMERCOM office has been placed on an enhanced working regime. During the holidays, the number of duty shifts has been increased, and additional equipment and personnel have been deployed.
From December 25, 2025 to January 11, 2026, a special fire safety regime is in effect in the region. It was introduced to minimize the risk of fires during mass events and services.
It was previously reported that Christmas services will be held in 92 churches in Nizhny Novgorod.
