"Torpedo-Gorky" started 2026 with a victory over "Khimik".

      The Torpedo-Gorky hockey players had a rematch of last season’s Russian Champions Cup final. The Nizhny Novgorod side started 2026 with a convincing victory, beating Khimik from the Moscow Region 4–2.

      The home team started the game actively and opened the scoring first — Roman Opalev scored. However the visitors quickly replied with two goals, and by the middle of the second period were already leading 2–1.

      In the second half of the game the Nizhny Novgorod team seized the initiative. Nikita Rozhkov restored parity, and soon Arseniy Varlakov converted a power play and put Torpedo-Gorky ahead.

      In the closing stages, when Khimik pulled their goalie in an attempt to save the match, Sergei Odinokov struck into the empty net, setting the final score — 4–2 in favor of Torpedo-Gorky.

      Dmitry Kosmachev’s team will play their next match (6+) on January 7 against Zvezda.

      But luck did not smile on the main team the day before. On January 4 Torpedo lost to Spartak in a spectacular match, 6–7.
