PIMU neurophysiologist Mikhail Volovik has died at the age of 67.

      Doctor of Medical Sciences, neurophysiologist, leading research fellow of the Department of Functional Diagnostics of the University Clinic of PIMU, Mikhail Volovik, passed away on January 4, 2026, in his 67th year of life. The university’s press service reported this.

      Volovik was not only an outstanding scientist but also a person with a strongly pronounced creative streak. Having trained as a biologist, he devoted his career to scientific research in the field of neurophysiology, working for decades at PIMU. His professionalism, depth of knowledge and sincere dedication to science earned him the respect of colleagues and students.

      Alongside his scientific work, Mikhail Grigoryevich distinguished himself in literature. Since 1997 he had been a member of the Union of Russian Writers, actively participated in cultural life, and performed at poetry festivals in Nizhny Novgorod and Moscow. His poetic work reveals a subtle, sensitive nature, open to the world and to people.

      The farewell ceremony for Mikhail Grigoryevich will be held on January 6 at 11:00 at morgue GRB No. 5. The funeral will take place at the Sormovo Cemetery.
