      JSC "Nizhny Novgorod Oil and Fat Plant" was fined 100,000 rubles for violating food product labeling rules. This decision was made by the Arbitration Court of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

      Sulfur dioxide was found in a ketchup under the Astoria brand produced on September 29, 2025. This preservative was not listed on the packaging. The inspection was carried out by specialists from the regional office of Rospotrebnadzor.

      Laboratory tests showed that the sulfur dioxide content in the sample was 312.6 ± 71.9 mg/kg. But there was no mention of it on the label, which violates the requirements of the Technical Regulations of the Customs Union. By law, the manufacturer is obliged to list all additives, especially those that may cause a reaction in sensitive consumers.

      The company was found guilty of violating the requirements of the technical regulations. NMZhK was given the minimum fine of 100,000 rubles.

      Recall that in September 2025 Belarus banned the sale and import of Astoria sauces produced at the Nizhny Novgorod Oil and Fat Plant because of E. coli and undeclared additives.
