Gleb Nikitin was awarded the title of Environmental Philanthropist of 2025.
January 5, 2026, 13:58 Society The governor of Nizhny Novgorod Region and chairman of the State Council commission on "Environmental Well-being," Gleb Nikitin, was awarded the title "Environmental Philanthropist of 2025." This was reported by Ekograd magazine's editor-in-chief Igor Panarin in a conversation with TASS.
According to him, Nikitin received the award for developing key principles of environmental philanthropy, actively promoting the idea of environmental responsibility, and for his significant contribution to creating effective models and tools for managing environmental sustainability, ecosystem services, and natural capital.
In addition to Gleb Nikitin, the title "Environmental Philanthropist" was also awarded to entrepreneur Sergey Galitsky and Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of Russia Maxim Korolkov.
The title "Environmental Philanthropist" is given for supporting environmental protection initiatives and selfless activities aimed at preserving the ecological and economic value of the country's natural capital.
An important criterion for the award is also the contribution to shaping environmental responsibility, one of the key elements of the national project "Environmental Well-being," launched in 2025 by order of the President of Russia. The title "Environmental Philanthropist" is part of the annual "Environmentalist of the Year" award, which has been presented since 2013.
Earlier it was reported that Gleb Nikitin granted the wishes of children from a Nizhny Novgorod family of a participant in the special military operation as part of the "Tree of Wishes" charity campaign.
