2025 became the warmest year in the entire history of meteorological observations in Nizhny Novgorod. This was reported by specialists from the "FOBOS" meteorological center on their Telegram channel.

Thus, the city's average annual air temperature amounted to +7.4 °C. This is 0.8 degrees higher than the previous record set in 2020, when the average temperature reached +6.6 °C.

Similar temperature highs were recorded in another 90 localities across Russia. Annual heat records were updated over a vast area — from Murmansk Oblast in the north to Arkhangelsk Oblast in the south, and from Moscow Oblast in the west to Sakhalin in the east.

"The climate is literally warming before our eyes. In this situation there is a high probability that 2025 will become the warmest year across our entire country as well; however, the analysis of meteorological data is not yet complete," the forecasters noted.

Earlier it was reported that a cooldown is expected for Nizhny Novgorod residents in the pre-work week.
