Unauthorized dumps covering 5,000 square meters were cleared in the Sovetsky District in 2025.
Twenty-three unauthorized dumps totaling about 1,700 cubic meters were removed in the Sovetsky District of Nizhny Novgorod in 2025, the district administration reported.
According to the district head, Aleksandr Ivanov, the work covered an area of 5,000 square meters. “In recent years the district has seen a positive trend toward a reduction in newly appearing waste dumping sites. If in 2024 the volumes of such dumps exceeded 3,000 cubic meters, in 2025 they were reduced almost by half — to 1,700 cubic meters. But, unfortunately, this problem remains one of the pressing issues today. Each year we monitor the territories, try to promptly identify such sites and plan work there,” Aleksandr Ivanov said, urging Nizhny Novgorod residents to act with civic responsibility and not to dump waste in unauthorized places.
According to the district administration’s beautification department, during 2025 the removal of accumulations of construction and household waste took place along the road leading to the Third Shchelokovskoye Lake, along the bank of the Starka River on the Golovnina Street side, along the road to Starokuznechikhinskaya Street — opposite house 123A in the village of Kuznechikha, opposite houses 48 and 50 on Guzhevaya Street, near house 9 on Elkhovskaya Street, along the road from Akademika Sakharova Street to house 130 on Vaneeva Street, and at other addresses.
Earlier it was reported that over 1,000 dumps totaling more than 134,000 cubic meters have been removed in Nizhny Novgorod over the past four years. This was stated by the city’s head, Yuriy Shalabaev, while presenting the mayor’s office activity report to deputies of the Nizhny Novgorod City Duma. He also added that work to eliminate unauthorized dumps is carried out on an ongoing basis.
