Scammers tricked a teenager from Arzamas under the guise of canceling a bank transaction.

In Arzamas, a 15-year-old girl fell victim to telephone scammers. This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
According to the police, an unknown person called the teenager and, posing as a bank employee, informed her of an allegedly suspicious transaction on her account. Under the pretext of canceling it, the attacker convinced the girl to transfer money to an account he dictated. After that the victim told her mother about what had happened, and she filed a report with the police.
A criminal case has been opened under part 2 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fraud"). The penalty provided by the article is imprisonment for up to five years. Police officers are conducting operational-search measures to establish the identity and whereabouts of the suspect.
Law enforcement reminds: do not leave banking apps freely accessible on phones that children can access. Set strong passwords and be sure to talk with your child about not disclosing personal information.
