Residents of Nizhny Novgorod can expect strong geomagnetic storms in the first days of January.

      Today, on January 1, Nizhny Novgorod residents can expect a geomagnetic storm that will reach level 5, the portal my-calend.ru reports.

      According to the forecast, magnetic activity will increase toward the evening. The most intense fluctuations of the geomagnetic field are expected at 18:00. The next geomagnetic storm of similar strength is forecast for tomorrow, January 2. According to the data, the peak of activity will also fall in the evening hours — at 21:00.

      Doctors advise avoiding stressful situations on such days, not making important decisions, and being especially careful behind the wheel. It is also recommended to reduce physical and emotional strain.

      During geomagnetic storms, the most common symptoms are headache, blood pressure spikes, dizziness, rapid heartbeat, and sleep disturbances. People with chronic illnesses may experience exacerbations, especially those suffering from hypertension and cardiovascular diseases.

      Note that there was also a strong geomagnetic storm on the last day of 2025 — December 31.
