The prosecutor's office secured compensation for the mother of a Nizhny Novgorod resident who was struck by a train.

      30 December 2025 15:38 Incidents. The Volga Transport Prosecutor’s Office helped the mother of a man from Nizhny Novgorod who died at Sportivnaya station obtain compensation from Russian Railways (RZD), the agency reported.

      The tragedy occurred in March 2025. A 47-year-old man suffered injuries after being struck by a suburban passenger train. He died at the scene.

      As established by the supervisory authority, the company OJSC Russian Railways, the owner of a source of increased danger, did not compensate the victim’s relatives.

      Since the man’s mother was left without a breadwinner and could not defend her rights on her own, the prosecutor filed a lawsuit in her interests.

      The Borsk City Court upheld the prosecutor’s claims and ordered the railway company to pay the woman compensation for moral damages and to reimburse funeral expenses. The total amount recovered exceeded 300,000 rubles. Enforcement of the court decision is under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office.

      Earlier it was reported that the transport prosecutor’s office helped a mechanic from Nizhny Novgorod recover overdue wages and compensation of 885,000 rubles from a foreign shipowner.
