Scammers stole large sums of money from pensioners in Balakhna.

      An 84-year-old pensioner from Balakhna fell victim to fraudsters, the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region reports.

      An unknown woman who introduced herself as a medical worker came to the man's apartment and offered to conduct a medical check-up. The stranger filled out paperwork and left the apartment. Shortly thereafter the man discovered that 100,000 rubles he had been keeping in one of the rooms were missing.

      An 80-year-old resident of Balakhna was deceived in a similar manner: an unknown woman came to her and offered to arrange a monthly social payment. The pensioner lost 321,000 rubles.

      The investigative department of the Balakhna District Police Department (OMVD of Russia "Balakhinsky") has opened criminal cases on these incidents.
