The first calf of a new beef breed was born at the Nikitino farm in Uren.

      A first bull of a potentially new cattle breed has appeared at the robotic "Nikitino" farm located in the Urensky District of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast. This was reported by the region's governor, Gleb Nikitin, on his Telegram channel.

      The breed has been given the provisional name "Nizhny Novgorod Nikitin Meat." According to specialists, official recognition of the new breed will take 10 to 15 years. During this time it will be necessary to confirm that the key characteristics are consistently passed on to offspring.

      A solid genetic foundation has already been laid. On the maternal side the calf comes from the Holstein breed, known for its high milk yields, and on the paternal side — from beef breeds: Simmental and Aberdeen-Angus.

      With proper fattening, the meat of such bulls can acquire a characteristic "marbled" texture, which makes it particularly valuable on the market.

      According to the head of the region, the "Nikitino" farm actively uses modern livestock technologies, including robotic milking and animal care systems, which made this result possible.

      Recall that the "Nikitino" farm in Urensky District was opened in May 2024.

      It was previously reported that a new farm for raising a dairy herd will be built in the Sosnovsky District.
