A ceremonial handing-over of temporary residence permits and Russian passports to new citizens took place in the Nizhny Novgorod region. This was reported by the regional Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Two citizens of Germany received official permits for temporary stay in Russia. The documents were presented to them by the deputy head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod region for citizenship and registration of foreign citizens, Police Colonel Andrey Knaus. The foreigners applied for assistance in August 2025.
In addition, Russian Federation passports were handed to a family of four who previously lived in Latvia. They became participants in the state program to assist the voluntary resettlement of compatriots living abroad and chose the Nizhny Novgorod region as their place of resettlement.
Speaking to the participants of the event, Andrey Knaus expressed confidence that the new citizens would benefit the region. He emphasized: "I hope that in the person of the new compatriots our country has gained upstanding citizens who will bring a lot of benefit to our region, and that the citizens of Germany who share traditional Russian spiritual and moral values will be convinced of the strength and great future of Great Russia."
The foreign citizens thanked the Russian state for its support and noted the importance of the documents they had received.
The family from Latvia stressed that obtaining citizenship was not only a significant event in their lives, but also a powerful motivation to justify the trust placed in them by Russia. The foreigners expressed their intention to actively participate in the country's development.
It is worth recalling that 900 foreigners want to move to the Nizhny Novgorod region.
Earlier it was reported that 14 foreign citizens received permits for temporary residence in Russia in Nizhny Novgorod.
