A new school for 600 students has opened in Pavlov.

      New School No. 17 has begun operating in Pavlov. Around 290 pupils are currently enrolled, having joined the institution since its opening in November 2025. The school will be fully operational from September 1, 2026. By that time it is planned to enroll 600 students. This was reported by the press service of the regional government.

      Gleb Nikitin, Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, noted that the new school in Pavlov has become not just an educational institution but a modern space for student development. It has all the conditions for children to acquire knowledge with interest: from comfortable classrooms to specialized zones for additional education.

      The school is equipped with classrooms for robotics and the basics of unmanned aerial vehicle operation, it has its own planetarium, a TV studio, a media center, a design and art studio, and a model library. Students can try themselves in various areas and reveal their talents.

      The head of the region also recalled that in 2025 three new schools and two additional buildings at existing educational institutions were opened in the region. In addition, major repairs were carried out in 20 schools.

      "We are consistently working to ensure that not only the quality of education improves in the region, but also the conditions in which children receive knowledge," he said.

      Ahead of the New Year holidays, the school was visited by Deputy Governor Andrey Checherin, the region’s Minister of Education and Science Mikhail Puchkov, head of the Pavlovsky Municipal District Alexey Kirillov, and Legislative Assembly deputy Igor Norenkov. The tour for the guests was led by the school principal, Ekaterina Alexandrova.

      The officials inspected workshops where boys are trained to work on milling, lathe and drilling machines and also use a 3D printer.

      Girls are learning skills with kitchen and sewing equipment. Also demonstrated were chemistry, biology and geography classrooms equipped with modern laboratory equipment, a specialized class for children with autism spectrum disorder, a language lab, and sports and assembly halls.

      Special attention in the school is paid to thematic zones supporting nationwide initiatives: "Chess at School," "Eaglets of Russia," "Movement of the First," "Dobro.ru," and "Big Change."

      Andrey Checherin noted that he spoke with teachers and students, congratulated them on the opening of the school and on the upcoming holidays. He emphasized that, despite the recent start of operations, the educational process is already organized. In his opinion, the appearance of such facilities in small towns makes them more attractive for living and for starting a family.

      The regional Ministry of Education reminded that construction of School No. 17 began in 2022. The total area of the building exceeds 14,200 square meters. The three-story building houses classrooms, rooms for extracurricular activities, a medical unit, two sports halls, a dining room and an assembly hall. On the adjacent grounds there are sports and children's playgrounds with swings, pull-up bars, play complexes, a basketball court and a tennis court.

      Minister of Education Mikhail Puchkov noted that, although the school opened only one and a half months ago, a special atmosphere is already felt here. He added that children happily go to classes, and this is the main indicator that everything has been done correctly.

      Creating conditions for quality education for children is among the tasks of the new national project "Youth and Children," implemented at the instruction of Russian President Vladimir Putin. The project unites nine federal programs, including "Russia — the Land of Opportunities," "We Are Together," "All the Best for Children," "Teachers and Mentors," "Professionalism," and others. It continues the goals previously set under the national projects "Education" and "Science and Universities."

      Earlier reports said that Pavlov School No. 5 became a prize-winner in the all-Russian competition of the "Znanie" society.
