Residents of the Nizhny Novgorod region are being encouraged to use the New Year holidays to undergo medical screening and preventive medical examinations. The region’s medical facilities will operate from January 1 to 8 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. In Nizhny Novgorod, examinations can also be done on January 9 and 10 — from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and in other districts of the region — from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This was reported by the press service of the regional government.
According to Natalia Savitskaya, chief physician of the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Center for Public Health and Medical Prevention, the New Year holidays are a convenient time to take care of one’s health without haste and queues.
She noted that on weekdays people often lack time to visit doctors, while during the holidays one can calmly complete all stages of examination, receive consultations, and timely identify possible problems.
In addition, in the early days of January the workload on medical facilities is usually lower, which makes the examination process more comfortable. This is especially convenient for those who want to avoid long waits in lines.
Savitskaya emphasized that during the holidays doctors can devote more attention to each patient, thoroughly analyze examination results, and provide recommendations for improving lifestyle.
"Starting the year with a medical screening is a symbolic step. You will get a clear picture of the state of your body and will be able to make the necessary changes to your diet and physical activity to feel more energetic," the specialist added.
To undergo an examination, residents of Nizhny Novgorod can contact the polyclinic where they are registered or make an appointment through the Gosuslugi portal. Citizens aged 18 to 39 can have a preventive check-up annually and a medical screening once every three years. Those over 40 are entitled to an annual medical screening.
The regional Ministry of Health reminded that caring for health is also a contribution to the well-being of society. Medical screening is one of the key tasks of the national project "Long and Active Life." The project has been implemented in Russia since 2025 on the instructions of President Vladimir Putin and includes 11 federal directions, including combating cardiovascular and oncological diseases, developing medical rehabilitation, modernizing primary care, and training personnel.
Earlier it was reported that the first night-time medical screening took place in Nizhny Novgorod on December 12. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has a Telegram channel. Subscribe to stay informed about the main events, exclusive materials, and timely information.
