      26 December 2025 15:18 Society The Ministry of Social Development and Family Policy will be created on the basis of the current Ministry of Social Policy in the Nizhny Novgorod Region. This was reported on his Telegram channel by the head of the region, Gleb Nikitin.

      The governor emphasized that support for families with children is a top priority of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin. A five-year "Family" program has been declared in the Nizhny Novgorod Region, within which unprecedented measures to support this category of citizens are being taken. These include the "Gift to the Newborn," children's goods rental points, and others.

      "Our task for the coming years is to achieve a significant increase in the birth rate, and the results of the last six months already inspire great optimism," Gleb Nikitin said.

      According to the head of the region, as part of the five-year family plan, more and more residents of Nizhny Novgorod will be involved in state programs, and the importance of family policy in the work of the Ministry of Social Development will grow every year.

      "The structural change records the shifts in the agency's work that have in fact already taken place in 2025, and also underscores the priority of family policy in the work of the Nizhny Novgorod Region government for the coming years. At the same time, the ministry will continue to fully perform its functions in the field of social protection, support for participants in the special military operation, the development of the network of social institutions and social policy in general," added Gleb Nikitin.

      Igor Sedykh will remain minister. The agency's work will be overseen by Deputy Governor Andrey Gneushev, who is responsible for the implementation of regional family and social policy. No staff expansion is planned in connection with the reorganization.

      It was earlier reported that a Ministry of Science and Higher Education would be created in the region. For now it will be headed by Deputy Prime Minister Ekaterina Solntseva. Later the head of the region will approve another candidate for the post of minister.
