From December 25, 2025 to January 11, 2026, a special fire-prevention regime will be in effect in the Nizhny Novgorod Region. It was introduced to reduce the risk of fires during the New Year and Christmas holidays, the government press service said.
During this period, it is prohibited to hold mass events in buildings where fire safety requirements are violated or where there is a threat to people's lives and health.
Also prohibited is the use of Class III pyrotechnics — fireworks, rockets and other aerial pyrotechnics. They may not be launched closer than 50 meters from residential buildings three stories or higher.
Special sites will be designated in each district of the region where fireworks can be safely launched. Locations will be chosen taking into account the distance to the nearest buildings and other objects.
Parents are advised to closely supervise their children: do not leave them unattended and do not allow them to play with matches, lighters or fireworks.
It was previously reported that there will be no festive fireworks display in Nizhny Novgorod for New Year.
