Nizhny Novgorod will appear in the new episode of "Smeshariki."

      At the end of December, viewers will see a special episode of the popular animated series "Smeshariki" (0+), in which the characters set off on an exciting journey around Nizhny Novgorod, the regional Ministry of Tourism said.

      The main guides for the Smeshariki around the landmarks of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast will be its official symbols — the fawn NiNo and the woodpecker Gor. Together with Barash and Nyusha they will show viewers the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin, the Chkalov Staircase, warehouse complexes (pakgauses), the Minin and Pozharsky monument and other attractions. The characters will also ride the funicular and visit the colorful Nizhny Novgorod Fair.

      The episode will be released on December 27, 2025 on the VK Video platform, as well as on the social media of the Riki Group and the region's official mascots. During the New Year holidays the cartoon will be shown on the regional TV channels NNTV and Volga.

      According to the region's Minister of Tourism and Crafts, Sergey Yakovlev, the episode is part of a large-scale effort to promote family tourism. It is noted that the region's mascots were updated for the city's 800th anniversary, receiving a modern look, their own website and a tourist route called "Path of Discovery."
