Nizhny Novgorod communist Alexey Zimin was killed in the SVO zone.

      A resident of Gorodets and communist Alexey Zimin died in the area of the special military operation. His death was reported by the Gorodets party organization of the Nizhny Novgorod regional branch of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF).

      Alexey had been in the SVO area since September 2022, since the start of the partial mobilization. During that time he was repeatedly shelled: he sustained five wounds and suffered as many concussions.

      In August 2025, while on the front line, he submitted an application to join the CPRF via video link.

      Even while on leave, Alexey was not indifferent to the lives of civilians. He took part in restoring a children's playground in the yard of building No. 44 on Dzerzhinsky Avenue in his native Gorodets.

      On October 29 he returned to his unit after a short leave. He was due to turn 33 on January 1, 2026.

      According to the Nizhny Novgorod regional branch of the CPRF, dozens of communists are currently serving in the combat zone. Since the start of the SVO, eight communists from the Nizhny Novgorod regional branch have died.

      Earlier it was reported that World War II veteran Nikolai Shishkin had died in Nizhny Novgorod in his 105th year.
