For the fifth year in a row, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations have been congratulating the patients of the children's hospital.

      On December 24, employees of the regional office of EMERCOM of Russia congratulated the young patients of the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Children's Clinical Hospital on the upcoming New Year. For the fifth year in a row, the agency's staff create an atmosphere of true wonder for the children — Ded Morozes (Grandfather Frosts) and Snegurochka (the Snow Maiden) appear in the windows of the hospital wards.

      The annual campaign is organized by the EMERCOM Directorate for Nizhny Novgorod Oblast with the support of the region's Ministry of Health. It also involves specialists from the Privolzhsky Regional Search and Rescue Unit of EMERCOM of Russia, the 1st Fire and Rescue Unit of Nizhny Novgorod, and the All‑Russian Student Rescue Corps.

      As the regional Ministry of Health reminded, the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Children's Clinical Hospital is currently undergoing a large‑scale capital renovation. For their greetings, the rescuers chose the hospital buildings where renovation work has not yet begun.

      The Ded Morozes — who are climbers — tapped on the children's windowpanes after descending from the roof. Swaying in the air, they greeted the children, their parents and the medical staff on every floor.

      A firefighter Ded Moroz and Snegurochka were raised to the children using an articulated boom lift. They also greeted the children and adults with smiles and gestures.

      At the same time, other rescuers spelled out "Happy New Year!" from fire hoses on the grounds between the hospital buildings and set off fireworks.

      "The traditional thrilling spectacle with Grandfather Frosts is awaited by both the children and all the staff of our hospital. My heart skips with delight and wonder when real EMERCOM magicians appear in the ward windows! This is something you remember for life!" — shared her impressions Svetlana Belozerova, chief physician of the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Children's Clinical Hospital.

      Twenty‑three specialists took part in the festive event, including nine members of the All‑Russian Student Rescue Corps.

      "Our brave firefighters and rescuers have once again proven that heroism is shown not only in dangerous situations but also in good deeds. We hold a New Year campaign for the patients of our Regional Children's Hospital every year; it has already become a tradition. We believe that we have given joy, smiles and a sense of real wonder to every child. May this holiday remain a vivid memory and give them hope for the future!" — said Alexey Shchelkanov, deputy head of the 1st Fire and Rescue Unit of the Main Directorate of EMERCOM of Russia for Nizhny Novgorod Oblast.
