      In the Nizhny Novgorod region, 114 criminal cases were opened in the first 11 months of 2025 on crimes committed against minors. This was reported at a press conference at the NOIC by the head of the inquiry organization of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the region, Police Colonel Oksana Smirnova, NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" reports.

      More than half of them are crimes against the life and health of children, 25% are against property, and over 8% are against the family.

      According to the police colonel, 50 crimes have been solved and the proceedings closed; inquiries are ongoing in 34 cases.

      Oksana Smirnova added that protecting children from criminal encroachments is one of the priority tasks of the internal affairs bodies. Among the criminal cases being investigated by investigators are failure to fulfill duties in raising minors, battery, causing minor or moderate bodily harm, threats of murder, as well as the retail sale of alcoholic products to minors, among others.

      Earlier it was reported that a resident of the Diveyevsky District will be tried for torturing her four minor children with particular cruelty.
