The Nizhny Novgorod FSB detained a local resident suspected of assisting terrorist activities. This was reported by the security agency's press service.

It was established that the Nizhny Novgorod resident, motivated by ideology, transferred funds to accounts used by a terrorist organization that is banned in the Russian Federation.

In a video filmed by law enforcement officers, the detainee speaks about foreign handlers who portray themselves as fighters for the cause, although they themselves "do not risk their own heads." According to him, at some point these people began to push him to carry out a terrorist attack, and also asked him to provide them with information about significant infrastructure on the territory of the Russian Federation.

UFSB investigators opened a criminal case under Part 1.1 of Article 205.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The suspect has been detained. A search was conducted at his home, during which a computer and a phone were seized.

The court ordered that the man be remanded in custody. Law enforcement officers are identifying possible accomplices and other instances of unlawful activity.

Recall that in the autumn a military court sentenced a nuclear physicist from Sarov to 18 years for treason.

There were also reports about a resident of Dzerzhinsk who was sentenced to 12 years in a penal colony for a terrorist attack on the railway.
